The swirling entity was enormous. Nearly the entire central part of Washington was engulfed in the maelstrom. Morrelle witnessed, first hand, beings of disfigured types emerge from within and lay upon the ever-changing soil, screaming for life. Their body, porous and weak, like a newborn, begins to take its new form. Some resembled Lycans while others were more voluptuous like the female vampire he took a special interest in. He watched how her breasts and hips took shape, how her skin blemishes disappeared.
Victoria, standing beside him, made sure he realized that. He returned the gesture with a simple hand squeeze. “You see,” he states boldly. “If life springs from here, it should return the favor within.”
“What will happen to me?” Victoria adds.
Before Morrelle could give her an answer the sound of screeching tires turns both their heads. Morgan steps out of the vehicle and approaches them, flanked by Isabel, the mental case, who holds her doll tight, and Deimia, the bookworm.
“We don’t have much time, brother. The gap is less than thirteen seconds now, and keeps shrinking. If we…”
Morrelle cuts her off. “Spare me the details, sister. Just tell us when to jump.”
Morgana gets up close and personal with her brother. She gives a kiss that was, to most, obscene. Victoria’s eyes narrow in spite. Their lips separate as Morgan keeps her arms around his neck. “There are no guarantees this will work, my dear brother. No one knows what is going on inside. Why can’t you just accept what you are? You have everything: a city you rule, wealth beyond imagination, and a sister who loves you, despite all our past dealings. Seattle will be in chaos if you leave. You know it and I know it.”
“Can we go home now?” Isabel inquires like a child.
Before anyone could speak, a beautiful, naked woman approaches. She was the entity Morrelle watched being born moments ago. She looks disoriented and confused. Morrelle knew the signs since it happened to him. “Don’t be afraid.” Morrelle spoke delicately. He gently moves her lips apart to see her incisors. She was vampire. She makes a startled moan as she moves back from his touch, trying to understand his language.
“I am Morrelle. I am like you.” Morrelle watches her closely. “You are hungry.” She shifts her eyes around at all the new faces as Morrelle offers her his, now, slit wrist. As if on instinct, the naked woman looks at the blood that is calling her from inside. Morrelle offers it to her, and she moves closer and makes small moans. Morrelle nods his head, and she takes his arm with such force he was nearly knocked over. He pulls her up close and asks Morgan if she has anything this newborn could wear. All Morgan could scrounge was a dinner jacket that Morrelle once wore. She kept it as a keepsake.
He wraps her with it while she feeds from him. Victoria sees conflict in the near future with this one. This…thing is feeding directly from one of the most powerful vampires in the western world. Victoria will NOT play second fiddle to this unnamed female.
“Enough,” Morrelle says like father to a daughter. “Too much in one night is not good.” The unnamed woman looks up at him with wanting eyes. He wipes the blood drool from the side of her mouth and playfully smears it on her lips. That’s when he kissed the unnamed woman in a gesture befitting his Italian nature. This was his way of saying “Welcome to the family.”
Victoria was not happy. Morgana shook her head and mutters “playboy” just loud enough for Morrelle to hear it.
This unnamed female was equal in height to Victoria, had equally nice breasts, and a body for sin. Her hair had changed to a chocolate brown and her face had a continental European look to it. This pleased Morrelle to no end.
“Some things never change.” Morgana quips. She changes gears. “If we’re going to do this we need to go now.”
Morrelle was lost in this new woman he almost didn’t hear her. “Would it benefit us if you had more time to study this phenomenon?”
“Study what? Her…? Or this…?” She points at the totally ignored maelstrom.
He gives her an angry look.
Morrelle walks the newborn to the car and assures her that everything will be fine. She still hasn’t spoken but her facial expressions she been giving him assure him she will only trust him. The blood bond was forming already, Morrelle noted to himself. He calls out to the others to return back to the family mansion.
Not everyone was happy.
